EPIDEMIOLOGY?
What is an Epidemiologist?
An investigator who studies the occurrence of disease or other health-related conditions or events in defined populations. The control of disease in populations is often also considered to be a task for the epidemiologist.
Becoming an Epidemiologist?
There are many and varied pathways to becoming an epidemiologist. They usually involve a degree in a related field such as medicine, health science, science with majors in mathematics/statistics, psychology, or sociology or a range of biomedical sciences...
The AEA encourages and supports establishing local chapters and special interest groups to undertake ongoing education and training courses. These local chapters or SIGs organise social events, talks and conferences and have been established in several geographical areas (i.e. ACT, Moana Pasifika, NSW, NT, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria, Western Australia) and on specific topics (i.e. cancer, cardiovascular disease, environment, epidemiology in government, paediatric and perinatal epidemiology, clinical epidemiology and research synthesis methods, teaching methods or survey methods).
To be a member of one or more SIG please log in and indicate the appropriate group in your profile.
